LIMEKILN Line-up: Local Walks to Explore

Discover Sussex on foot, from winding country lanes and open fields to woodland paths and hidden corners of the countryside. We’ve gathered some of our favourite local walks — perfect for an afternoon of exploring and seeing a little more of what’s around us.

The Scotney Castle Circle

25-minute drive from LIMEKILN

Distance: 4 miles | 6.4km

Duration: 2 – 2.5 hours

Starting Point: TN3 8DA

The route offers a glimpse of the area’s rich landscape, with National Trust members able to extend the walk with a visit to the castle and its beautifully maintained gardens. For a well-earned stop afterwards, head to The Vineyard for a drink or something to eat.

 

Paddock Wood & Matfield Circular

25-minute drive from LIMEKILN

Distance: 5.3 miles | 8.5km

Duration: 2 – 2.5 hours

Starting Point: TN12 6ER

The circular route can also be extended into nearby Matfield for a little more exploring.

 

Cranbrook & Sissinghurst Castle Gardens

35-minute drive from LIMEKILN

Distance: 3 miles | 4.8km

Duration: 2 hours

Starting Point: TN17 3JU

At just two hours, it’s the perfect walk to pair with a leisurely lunch and time to explore Sissinghurst’s historic gardens and grounds.

 

Tonbridge to Tunbridge Wells Viaduct Walk

25-minute drive from LIMEKILN

Distance: 4.1 miles | 6.6km

Duration: 2 – 2.5 hours

Starting Point: TN11 0NA

A slightly hillier walk, it’s a chance to explore quieter paths and discover one of the area’s lesser-known landmarks along the way.
